What's Wrong With The US

Gee, does this sound familiar? ;)

I thought I'd post an update about the site's progress. With all the college football on, and going back to my day job this week, I'm running very low on sleep. So I was suprised when I realized we've made significant progress just in the past few days:

• User registrations are up. Most don't seem to be posting much (yet?)
• Submission queue's getting submissions. This is most excellent. The rating system seems to be working, for the most part. I know of one quirk (ok, bug) with it. I will fix that in the code this weekend
• Found a bug in the Survey plugin. Squashed it. Jamie verified it's fixed, so I committed it to CVS.
• Midkniht, on IRC, suggested a few debate ideas. Thank you!
• Yesterday, I found that I'd forgot to finish the submission-to-debate migration code. To top it off, pudge had updated the Journal plugin to use reskey's - so I had to re-write my patch to the submit plugin. Because of this, our submission bin was down for quite bit of time. Luckily, submissions are slow still, so odds are no one even noticed this problem. Pudge's changes also broke the Flickr add-ons that I wrote while in Boston. That's fixed now, too.
• We now have one open debate, and one in the submission queue. It's my hope that someone will signup for this first debate within the next week or so. We really need 2 people to participate in a debate to make sure all the bugs are out of it. I think they are, but I'm a coder, not a debater.
• Cosmetic changes galore to the style sheets - particularly the OlderStories box (now has dept info) and TopDebates slashbox
• I worked on the language in the debate information page this morning. I'm not sure if it's clear enough not to confuse people. We'll see. Any suggestions appreciated.
