Yes, that's 2.3 trillion! And that's a direct quote from Rumsfeld, himself, in 2001.

"We know it's gone. But we don't know what they spent it on," said Jim Minnery, Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

Sigh. The rest of the article is at benfrank.net."

Trillons out of control. It so blatantly demonstrate how nobody controls anything. Not even governments.

Doing our best is what matters. As a scientist, trying to count, estimate, analyse, evaluate, might be worthed in some aspects, but at the source, what matters, is doing your best with what you have.

Sometimes I feel the international community tries to control so many things; poverty, hungers, Irak, Israel, Lebanon, Afghanistan, wealth, oil, epidemics, nature, climate, etc. But we don't have control. Stop trying to be smart and start being human.

"He said money wasted by the military poses a serious threat."

"With good financial oversight we could find $48 billion in loose change in that building, without having to hit the taxpayers."

well... ... sometimes I wonder how I read Collapse [wikipedia.org] and I still feel I'm an unbreakable optimist! :-)
